MARGARET FARQHUAR'S BLACK 42L2 AND DAVE HAWKINS LD AND ROD TYPE. THE BANNERS, BADGES AND MODELS ARE MAINLY FROM MARGARET'S COLLECTION. YOU WILL NOTICE THERE IS SOME NON-SCOOTER MATERIAL IN THE LEFT-HAND CABINET, THIS WILL BE REMOVED ONCE OTHER SCOOTER-RELATED ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE. Dave Hawkins, the VVC Technical Officer, has established a permanent Scooter Exhibition at the World Famous CSMA Motoring Museum in Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire. Enough floor space is allocated to house about 3-4 machines behind which are 2 large glass wall cabinets plus a floor-standing glass cabinet showing memorabilia (banners, badges, pennants etc.) A Rod Type and a 42L2 have been donated by Dave Hawkins and Margaret Farquhar together with lots of banners, cloth badges and pennants for the display. We are still asking members if they would care to contribute any of the following: a)A Vespa cut awayengine (at one time Douglas had static engines ) b)Any models, china or metal scooter objects. c) Cloth Vespa/Lambretta/scooter badges to go on the front of the yellow and red overalls. Dave’s wife, Marilyn has offered to do the sewing, d) More model scooters to go in the glass cabinets We also have the promise of a Swallow Gadabout if we can find the room for it, from someone in Cheltenham. Peter Burley (VVC Member) has sent a yellow VCB overall which is on to one of the 2 mannequins we have, the other mannequin already sports a red overall from the early 1980's with my name and Cheltenham Vespa Club written on the back. If you have anything scooter related to donate please get in touch with Dave Hawkins on 01242-244011 or mobile 07901-877917 Contact DH to arrange collection etc. All contributions gratefully received. |
